Wednesday Random's

I want to blog, but have no idea what to blog about, SO let's go with Wednesday Randoms today!

  • I am having a hard time crossing my legs.  The belly is starting to get in the way and making it harder to cross.  This makes me sad because I cross my legs a lot at work....
  • I am SOOOO looking forward to my baby showers.  My mom is throwing us one, my mother in law is throwing us one and Andy's work has offered to throw us a shower.  I am sure my work is going to do something too.  We both feel so loved and are gracious that so many people want to celebrate Baby K!
  • I'm having a hard time with my water intake while at work...I think I am becoming bored with my water bottles #firstworldproblem.  I almost need to set an alarm or reminder to take a big gulp of water every 15 minutes.
  • I am really looking forward to the 3 day weekend for the 4th!
  • I have some MAJOR pet peeves when it comes to interviewing people for jobs...I am thinking about typing up a blog about the Do's and Do Not's of interviewing for a job.
  • Loving the current weather we are experiencing today in St. Louis.  The high: 74 degrees! Uh yeah, I'll take it!  :)
  • One of our neighbor's just had her baby girl and I got to see her last night and it makes me even more excited (and antsy) for my baby boy to get here!!!!
  • I wish their was a product out there that could help with my upper back pain.  It's the worst at work and in the car.  Otherwise it's mostly fine.
  • Dinners or lack there of planned dinners have been meh lately.  Sorry Andy!
  • Sunday night my mom and I are taking my sister Jena to the Fall Out Boy concert.  She is SO SO excited and I can't wait to see her face during this concert.  I am a fan of their music but not like her.  She's a SUPER fan!  So glad we got actual seats for the concert because I know they will be well used with myself and my mom.  :)
  • I finished the book "Milk Diaries" yesterday and really enjoyed it.  I feel like the more I read about breast feeding, the more confident I am going to be at it.  And then I feel like I'll have the baby and freak out like I have no idea what I am doing.  So yeah, that should be fun.  :)

Want to linkup with me? {MidWeek Randoms}

I've really been contemplating wanting to do a linkup on Wednesday's called "MidWeek Randoms".  I find that at times I have a hard time coming up with things to write all week long and LOVE the idea of a link up of MidWeek Randoms.  I have participated in other blogs before who have done these, but it has died off and stopped happening.  If anyone is interested in also hosting this with me or is just interested in linking up with me, please email me at:
bettertogetherandforever{at}gmail{dot}com!  :)

But until I hear anything, I will do my own list of MidWeek Randoms for this week since I do not have any recipes to share today on the blog and haven't been taking photos of my food lately.

  • I decided to finally bite the bullet and purchase a month of PicMonkey (the upgrade version) for $4.99 and I have to admit, I REALLY love it!  I think I am going to have to just upgrade for an entire year which is only $33.00 ($2.75 a month) since I've used it so much the last couple of weeks.  I would really love to just sit down and do an entire blog re-design but that's on my back burner at the moment.  Everytime I try to do something new for the blog, I spend too much time on it and then save it, transfer it to the blog and it doesn't come out....its getting really frustrating to say the least.  I also blog on a MacBook Pro laptop at home.  While it's not an ancient thing to use, it is frustrating to do some blog designs on it.  The plus of having a laptop, I can blog on the couch.  So you know, it has its plus' and minuses.
  • Today's high: 69 degrees.  Tomorrow's high: 35 degrees with snow and potential ice.....As of right now, we are expecting around 6 inches total of snow.
  • Also speaking of the nice weather, we decided to grill burgers last night.  Yep, it was December 3rd and we were grilling.  Welcome to the unusual weather of Missouri.  Don't worry, it will be bitter cold and snowing in several days!  :)
  • I have officially moved upstairs to my new office.  I have a before and after photo to share with you all and plan on posting it to Instagram for you all to see.
  • Also, speaking of Instagram, did you know I have an instagram?  You can follow me here.
  • My favorite photo editor and background creator for my instagram photos: PhotoGrid!  Love this app and it was FREE!!  It has some awesome background choices, photo boarder choices AND I love the fonts you can use for text.
  • My friend, Ali decided to let all of Facebook know that 3 weeks from today is Christmas....did that scare you too??
  • I've been contemplating about setting monthly goals for myself instead of just a yearly "New Years Goals", which by the way, is it just me or do you not remember what those goals were? Yeah, I can't remember mine either.....I need to get to reading this and see what I have and haven't accomplished.
  • Have you all seen the new "shared" thing going around on social media accounts, "Weekly Savings".  I am going to talk to Andy about it and see if he is on board for this also.  It's where you save a certain dollar amount every week.  So week one you save $1, week 2 $2, week 20 $20; and so on until you get to week 52 and you will have saved in total (if you save the right amount every week) $1378.00.  I would love to save this money and put it towards hard wood floors for the main floor or maybe a vacation!
  • I've been in a not so good mood the past couple of days.  I am just down with things not going the way that I thought they would.  I need to snap out of my funk, but sometimes it's easier said than done.
  • Back to the gym I go today.  I've been promising myself that I am going to go and then come up with excuse to get out of it.  Today stops the excuses and starts the fat burn!  I can't keep sitting around, eating like crap and expect to feel amazing.  It just doesn't work that way.  I'm sure my mood will change for the better too with going to gym.  Why wait for the new year to work out when I can start today!
Again, if anyone is interested in doing this link up with me, please let me know!

Sometimes you just want a donut

  1. I'm not going to lie, I have been craving donuts for 2 weeks now, but have resisted until this morning (my husband is giving me a look as he reads this, and will probably follow up with, "I want donuts!".....) I stopped by QT this morning for 2 donuts and an iced tea (the tea is for lunch).  Shame on me, but sometimes you just want a donut or two!  It's all about moderation, it's OK every once in awhile!  :)
  2. I confess, I did not go to bed at 9 PM like I had planned last night, it was more like 10 PM.  Andy and I have been re-watching "Big Band Theory" and I really wanted to watch the last episode of season 2!
  3. The sun is shining at the moment and the heat has come back to St. Louis!  87 for the high Wednesday and 91 for the high Thursday.  Go away warm weather (I can't believe I just typed that!)
  4. I went to the dentist yesterday and am happy to report, NO CAVITIES!
  5. Tonight I am trying out a new recipe from The Country Cook called Bubble Up Lasagna.  We shall see how it comes out.  I normally love all of The Country Cook's recipes, so I am hoping to not be disappointed!
  6. I was bumming this morning that on my iPhone the iOS 7 wasn't available yet.  I guess we are waiting for Apple time and not when we are ready for it.  It was suppose to be released today 9/18 and I still have yet to see the update come up on my phone.  I just googled "Apple ios7 release date and time".  Found out, it wont be posted until 10 AM PST (which is after 12pm here in St. Louis).  I'm always nervous to download a new OS onto my phone because of all of the glitches.  Here's hoping all of those glitches are worked out first before releasing this to the public!! (Que husband's comment, "This is why Android is better".)
  7. I really dislike the following question: "How was your summer"   My summer was absolute crud and then when you tell people it wasn't good, then they ask why and you have to go into detail and then I get sad and it's just not a good combo.  I know it's a nice question to ask, but I'd rather not lie and say it was good, but i'd also rather not go into detail of my crummy summer.  It's like working in retail and someone asks how you are doing today (this question you are asked over 100 times a day).  Do you really want to answer, "Awful".  Heck yes, but do you really say that?  No, because you don't want to go into detail.  UGH!
  8. I'm am wanting to try a Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) because everyone and their mom is talking about how amazing they are.  I still have yet to work the nerve up for one.  I saw that McDonalds has their own version too!  Wimp, I know I am!
  9. My friend Ali's house is completing construction next Friday and I am so excited for her and her family!!  Can't wait to see the finished outcome!
  10. As I look above at all of my items for today, I realize every single one of them is called a "FIRST WORLD PROBLEM".
On that note, I am ever thankful for my husband, the fur-babies, my family and friends.
Puppy cuddles last night in bed while I was blogging and watching TV.
She has an AMAZING life!!

Never Forget

Fair warning, this post may be will be all over the place today.  For that, I apologize in advance.   I plan on lumping What I Ate Wednesday and Midweek Randoms together.  I didn't want to post a bunch of separate posts for just today, I'd rather just write them all together.

  • I have been sleeping like crud lately and it's getting frustrating to say the least.  Monday night I went to bed with a headache, turned the TV off at 9 PM and was out like a light.  Tuesday at work was miserable with how tired I was.  I had 2 sodas in my office that I keep for when I need a pick me up, put them in the fridge, opened one to drink and noticed that it went bad.  Yes, soda in a can goes bad.  Bummer!   Last night I zonked out at 9:30 PM and still this morning I am so exhausted.  I am not a huge caffeine drinker, just a cup of coffee in the morning and maybe an iced tea in the evening.  I've tried PM pills before on the weekends, but I find that when I sleep in a whole bunch on the weekends, my next week for work is thrown off and I lose whatever sleep I gained.  It's a never ending cycle and I don't even have kids yet!
  • Working out has not been happening lately...just being lazy about it, I guess. I do make sure to take Keeley out on a walk every night.  It's been just so hot here lately that I have no desire to walk around a lot.  Cooler weather should be coming to St. Louis this week, so I think I am going to start taking up walking at work again.  I really need too at least!

  • Last night for dinner we grilled.  I picked up some chicken breast that I marinated, some corn on the cobb and decided to make some "potato packets".  It was pretty easy to make and they actually turned out so good!  Recipe to come tomorrow along with my Pumpkin Apple Muffins!

  • Today marks the 12th anniversary of September 11th.  Over the weekend I noticed a lot of TV stations playing tons of 9/11 shows and documentaries and wondered why.  Duh Jess, 9/11 is coming up fast.  On 9/11/2001 I was 16 years old, a sophomore in high school.  I was in my first period class English with my best friends.  We heard rumblings in the hallway about a plane crashing into a building but didn't find out what was really going on until after that class was over.  My Dad was in Chicago that day for work and I had fears of him being there.  I called my Mom from the pay phone at school (go ahead and laugh..) to make sure that Dad was OK.  Obviously he couldn't get home by plane but somehow managed to get a rental car to come home the next night.  After school we came home and watched hours and hours of the coverage on 9/11.  My brother Jack was 6 years old at the time, and the twins were 2.  We went to Bread Co. for dinner that night and when we got home from dinner I noticed the sunset that night was so beautiful.  I did take a photo of it for keepsake.  I need to try and find that photo one day.  I remember at marching band practice the next morning how eerily quiet it was with no planes in the sky, and it stayed that way for days to come. Still to this day, 9/11 is a vivid memory in my eyes and will always be.

  • September 11th also marks a sad day for us.  Today was suppose to be the day that we were going to find out the gender of the baby.  You can read more here about that.  I know, I haven't caught people up lately on what is going on with us and partially its because nothing has been going on.  Just trying to keep our patience while we wait until we can try again.  Someday's it's easy to wait, other's it's not, but we are getting through it all.
  • I don't know if you are all like me, but I have such a weird shape to my body.  Jeans never fit right on me.  Last year I thought I found 2 pairs of jeans that fit me perfectly and then of course, you wash and dry them and they shrink....UGH!!  So I think I am going to have to go up a size in jeans because they shrink.  How depressing.....I went to Old Navy to try on these jeans on my lunch.  They were kind of too big but they are 98% cotton, which means, shrinkage!  I still haven't pulled the trigger on them yet, but am going to have to eventually {especially if the weather is going to get cooler}.  I am waiting on a coupon bigger than 15% off.  They always throw 20 and 30% off coupons out towards the end of the month.   Another complaint I have on clothes, why are all the jeans skinny jeans!  Seriously!  I am a women with curves and hips and a butt, skinny jeans are suffocating on this body.  I even told the women at Old Navy that I couldn't wait until the skinny jeans are no longer popular.  I just want a pair of jeans that fit and that I don't feel like a huge whale in them! {End Rant}

MidWeek Randoms 9/4

Sorry for the not so fun title today.  I have been racking my brain over a fun title and then just said forget it, MidWeek Randoms for 9/4 sounds just fine.

  • Yesterday I woke up in a great mood (even though I didn't sleep that well), I decided that it was a sparkle Tom kind of a day!

  • Last night was the second night in a row where I slept awful!  I'm talking up every hour {at least that's what it feels like}.  I'm not sure if it is because I sleep so much over the weekend or it coule be that Keeley has been moving around a lot more lately at night and she's been shaking her head a lot like her ear's are bothering her.  We took her to the vet a month ago and they said her ear's are fine, but I'm starting to wonder if she does have issues with her ear's or it's just the allergies bugging her.
  • I made a lasagna last night for dinner {homemade} and it turned out pretty good.  I've gotten to the point where I don't need a recipe anymore for lasagna.  Only problem, I filled the pan up too much and caused it to spill in the oven while it cooked causing the fallen sauce to burn on the oven element....made a burning smell in my house.  Which means I now have to clean my oven...BOO!

  • I have a serious addiction to this lip balm.  My sister had it and I tried it.  I then knew I was hooked.  I picked myself up one at Target.
EOS Organic Lip Balm Sphere - Sweet Mint
  • I also have been perusing the Target clearance clothing racks for dresses {cue eye roll from the husband} and found this dress half off!  $12.49!  I have the blue and cream striped dress also.  In fact, I am wearing the pink/grey colored dress today.
Merona® Women's Kimono Sleeve Shirt Dress - Assorted Colors

  • Today is my Keeley's 3rd Birthday!  Here is how we figure.  When we adopted her, the adoption place figured she was about a year old.  So we decided that the day that Keeley was placed in our house would be her "First" birthday and every year from then on, it would be her birthday.  Well today would mark 2 whole years together with our Keeley!  Happy 3rd Birthday to my Keeley!  Love you puppy girl!!  :)
