Thunderstorms

Thunderstorms and Tornado Warning are not my friend! Today a cold front moved through from Kansas City with Straight line winds coming our way.  The tornado warning alarm went off because of a tornado siting just outside of where I live.  I hate, hate, hate tornado's !  Especially in the middle of the night.  There is something eerie about the alarms going off in the middle of the night.  It freaks me out!  The typical Missouri response to a tornado alarm going off is to go outside and watch the clouds to see if a tornado is really forming.  Sad, but true!   I am happy to report that everyone is fine!

Cardinals game is still currently delayed, but we are up 3-1 versus the Giants.  Hopefully the game will resume soon and we will take the WIN!!  :)

Nail biter

Oh what a nail biter I am.  Yes, it is gross, I realize this.  It is a REALLY hard habit to quit, especially since I have been nail biting since I can remember.  I hate it, it's just that annoying habit that I constantly do.  The car is the worst when it comes to nail biting.  There are so many stupid people out there and it's just pure bordem.  I've tried stopping many times, but always end up biting them several months down the road.  Maybe this time I will make it stick.  :)  When my sister was little, I told her, "You will NOT bite your nails" over and over and you know what, she does NOT bite her nails.  What a good big sister I am!  :)

I made a deal with myself last week.  My deal was, if I stop biting these nails, that I would go out and purchase some good nail polish to make my fingers pretty.  I use to just purchase the nail polish that was 99 cents at Walgreens.  Nothing wrong with it, just wanted to upgrade my nail polish and hope that it will help me stop my digusting habit.

Here's to stopping my gross habit!

Pumpkin

Right now, my new obsession is:  Pumpkin!

I love the smell and taste of pumpkin right now.  I think it's because it is almost Halloween and it's fall and I love that the weather is getting cooler out.  We had a dreadfully hot summer in St. Louis.  Highs were in the 100's and over for weeks at a time.  This is the first time ever that I am actually a little excited for some cold weather!  While at Target yesterday, I was searching all over for a Pumpkin candle I liked, but came up short and wasn't a fan of their selection.  Oh well.

Breakfast:

Cinnamon Swirl Mini Bagel with Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese

Mid-Morning Snack:

A Homemade Pumpkin/Apple Muffin

I made these about a month ago and froze them so they wouldn't go bad, but I could have them for breakfast whenever I want.  I'll post the recipe up for these soon.  They are so delish and you use real apples in the recipe too, which I think makes them taste even better!

Weekend Recap

Here's a quick recap of my weekend:

Friday Evening:

I had every intention of lying on the couch and doing nothing and plans changed.  Our neighbors invited us to a bar to watch game 5 of the Cardinals game.  While I had fun, I was so exhausted.  By Friday evening, all I can think of is lying in bed and doing nothing but watch tv and sleep.  I know, i'm pathetic.....  Great game though!  So glad I decided to go watch it because it was really entertaining, especially towards the end!  Bad news though, I didn't run like I was suppose too......Andy suggested we move it to Saturday.

Saturday:

I woke up at 11am and felt super guilty.  I could have been doing so many other things than just sleep, but oh well.  I needed a good nights sleep.  I decided that if I did all my normal weekend chores (vacuuming, any left over dished in sink/dishwasher, trash from all bathrooms, clean up misc items all over the house from that work week, and the dreaded laundry), that I could rest and not do much on Sunday.  So off I went with chores and got them all done.  Laundry was half way done, so go me!  :)  I finally found some curtains for our living room at TJMaxx.  I'll post photos once Andy gets them up.  We also had dinner with his parents, Tim and Lynn at 54th Street Grill.  YUMMO!!

Sunday:

I woke up with an annoying cough....not sure where I got it from.  I went out with my mom and sister for our usual Sunday:  lunch, Target and grocery shopping.  Love Sunday's when we spend time together and have girl time.  Andy made me grilled cheese and mater (tomato) soup for dinner which was very sweet of him.  Finished up the remainding laundry and watched tv.  I watched the movie, "Friends with Kids".  It wasn't too bad, predictable, but not bad to watch.

Boring weekend, but it's the best kind.  As usual the weekend goes by too fast and our work week starts again!  Here's to another fast work week and a nice relaxing weekend, next weekend!

Oh and also, GO CARDS!!

Lets Win!

Dear Cardinals,

I would appreciate a win tonight over Washington! Your city is counting on you.  Lets go Cardinals (Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap)

Love,
Jessica

Update:  The Cardinals did win over Washington!  The score: 9-7.  AMAZING GAME!!!!  We're now onto the NLCS game against the San Franscisco Giants.

GO CARDINALS!!

What I'm Loving....

I'm loving - that it's Friday, and I get to leave work at 2pm today instead of my normal 3:30pm time.

I'm loving - the time I get to spend with Andy and the fur-babies this weekend!

I'm loving - my blog!  I'm having a lot of fun with it.  Hopefully, I will have all my pages completed this weekend.  It's hard going through so many photos and uploading only some of them......there are so many good photos!  :)

I'm loving - my diet so far.  Weird to say, but I've been really conscious the past 5 days what I am putting in my body, and it's amazing how much I have cut back already!

I'm loving - Maria's Deli in Overland, Missouri for my once a week out to lunch meal for work!  I LOVE their chicken salad wrap!!  So delish!!  If you're in town, stop by for lunch.  You won't be sorry, I promise!

I'm loving - my car!  In July, we decided that it was time to get rid of the Scion TC and move me onto a bigger car.  I picked out the 2012 Kia Optima in Bright Blue!  LOOOOOOOOVE MY CAR!!  I spend so much time driving back and forth to work and having a car that is much comfier has made my life just a little bit easier!  :)

I am now waiting for the hubs to get home from work so we can run and get it over with for the night.  I am ready for sweats and lying on my couch for the night!

C25K - Day 2

Today was day 2 of running the Couch to 5K.  I came home from work and immediately changed into my workout clothes.  I knew if I didn't change, I wouldn't get the motivation to work out.  I waited for Andy to come home from work around 5pm and nagged him until he finally got changed to run.  Yup, I was that wife today!  :)  We ran/walked the 2 miles in 32 minutes.  A bit slower than the first day, but we were both a bit sore from the first day of training.

I had NO desire to make dinner after working out so off to Taco Bell we went for dinner.  Yes, not a good choice, but I did think about what I was going to eat and I think I did well.

He's what I ended up with:

Half of a Chicken Quesadilla (2 slices, split with Andy) - 260 calories
Chicken Fresco Soft Taco - 150 calories
Small Tortilla Chips with Guacamole - 302.5 calories
Water: 0 calories
Total:  712.5 calories

Looking at the tortilla chips with guac, not such a good idea, but I've been really good lately about eating, so I guess a little splurge won't hurt too much!  :)  I'll just be more aware the next time we go to not get the chips.  Total for the guacamole in calories is 35 so that isn't too bad, its the chips which are fried.  :(

Here is what I normally would get at Taco Bell:

Whole Chicken Quesadilla - 520 calories
1 Hard Taco Supreme - 200 calories
1 Cinnamon Twist - 170 calories
1 Large Mango Strawberry Fruista - 300 calories
Total:  1190 calories

So I cut 477.5 calories from my normal meal to my new diet meal, so GO ME!  :)

We also walked around Walmart for about an hour last night too, so my exercize for the day was really good!

Tomorrow, I plan on walking the dog around the neighborhood.  Not over extensive, but better than sitting on my butt all day!  I've got to let my muscles rest a little bit so I don't over do it.
