Five for Five #21

Good Monday Morning!

My morning started off differently this morning for that fact that I was "taking" care of 2-14 year old's last night and this morning.  I say "taking" care of with quotes because lets face it, there is no "taking" care of to do with 14 year old's.  They were awesome and I didn't have one problem with them at all.  It helps that they are my sister and brother.  :)  Today is their "official" first day of High School.  They start summer school gym today just like I did 14 years ago.  OK so typing out 14 years ago, made my heart skip a beat thinking about that long ago.....Jena and Joe were only 1 then.  HA!

Thanks to Jenn and Jessica for this fabulous link up as always!!

June 3-7th
  1. Work out 3 times this week OK, so the story here, I didn't exactly get to the gym last week BUT I have been making sure to take Keeley out to walk everyday last week when it wasn't raining.  In fact, my fitbit numbers have been quite excellent.  So no, I did not exactly workout but I did make sure to get in lots of walks around the neighborhood at night.
  2. Walk on lunch at least 2 times this week  I walked 3 days last week on lunch!!
  3. Get more green foods in my diet.   Did excellent on this goal and then the weekend came and so did NO green food.  Here's to starting this week off good again.  :)
  4. Start typing instructions on how to run payroll at my work.  I started this on Monday and abandoned it the rest of the week.  Time to get going on this once again.
  5. Keep sewing on my cross stitch.  I did sew on my cross stitch AND I was using the sewing machine this weekend!  Go me!
4.5/5
Dang, what a great week it was for me!!

Let's see what's in store for this week for me:

June 10-14th

  1. Work out 2 times this week in the gym, starting today (Monday)
  2. Walk at work 4 times this week!  It's suppose to be a great week with no rain.  Here's hoping the rain stays away today.  It's quite cloudy out right now.
  3. Finish the laundry up.  Just need to move the towels from washer to dryer and then fold and put away.  Let's make this a Monday goal also!
  4. Start cleaning out the closet/dresser.  I've have clothes in there that I have not touched in quite some time and it's time for them to move out.
  5. Keep on sewing!

Double Birthday / Throwback Thursday #2

Today, we celebrate 2 birthdays:  my brother Jeff's 27th birthday (believe it or not, I am 2 years older than him.  Shocking, I know) and my dad's 60th birthday.  We will be celebrating both birthday's tonight at Jeff's house with some BBQ and funfetti cupcakes made by me.  :)  You may have seen a preview photo of the cupcakes on Instagram.

I plan on getting some photos from the birthday celebration tonight and plan on posting them Friday.  Here's hoping I stick to that plan.

Now onto the fun,

The Story of Us

Today's Throwback Thursday Photo takes you back to 1988

This was my cousin Julie's (the one who is blowing out the candle) 2nd Birthday.  My brother Jeff is right next to her and I am behind him.  We celebrated her birthday at our Uncle Bobby's house.

Weekend Recap #5

Is it sad that every time I do one of these, I sit here and think, "OK, what did I do Friday night?!?".  So very true!

Friday -
Andy got to work from home Thursday and Friday so by the time I came home from work and running errands (I surprised him with a 4 pack of his favorite beer) he was ready to get out of the house and walk around.  Target was our destination because we had a prescription waiting on me and one to take in for him.  We spent a good amount of time in there and picked up some non-essential food items.  You know the good stuff like: vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate magic shell and root beer float magic shell  (still need to try that stuff, sounds sooo good).  Later that evening we took Keeley outside to play for a little bit and get some energy out (well needed and super glad we did).  We looked out into the distance and saw a monster storm headed our way.  We went back inside and I turned on the news.  Of course it's splashed with storm coverage.  We knew the storm was to hit around 7:30 pm and boy did it!  It was the scariest storm I had ever been through!  I saw the really low black cloud go over our house and started to freak out.  We never go to the basement when we head the sirens (yes I know....) but that night, we did and I am so glad we did!  Found out my brother was driving home and got caught in the storm.  He said he just pulled over and hoped that the Tahoe wouldn't get pulled into the storm.  Thankfully he is OK.  The tornado was so close to my brother's house and thankfully he did not have any storm damage either.
Too close to comfort.  This is a photo I took from someone on Facebook who was out in the storms and saw this just miles away from my house.  GO AWAY TORNADOES!!

Saturday -
I had plans with Ali to head over to the St Louis Mills Mall to shop for somethings.  The Mills Mall isn't the closest to our houses, but it's nice to take a trip out there every once in awhile. We were almost there and just as we are to cross the Missouri River we are stopped by the police.  They had shut the bridge down because a barge crane from up the river had gotten loose at the other bridge and had traveled down and hit the bridge we were coming across.  Actually the crane hit the "train bridge" which is right next to the "car bridge" and they decided to close the bridge totally in both directions.  So we turned around and went to another mall instead.  I wasn't able to find what I wanted, but it was nice to get out of the house with a good friend!  :)  I came home, did some cleaning of the house and we went out to dinner with Andy's parents to Fast Eddies in Alton, Illinois.  YUM!!  Silly me didn't get any photos that night, but it was a good time.  If you are ever in Alton, IL I HIGHLY suggest Fast Eddies!  It's a road house/bar with really cheap food at amazing prices!

Sunday -
That morning I actually relaxed, jammies and watching TV on the couch until noon.  Very relaxing and loved every minute of it.  I wished Andy could have joined me in the comfy-ness, but he and his dad were putting the finishing touches on the basement.  Andy has one more thing to finish before we can call for the 1st inspection before drywall.  I am going to try and get some photos for you all this week and post a little bit about it.  I went out and got a pedicure with Andy's mom Lynn and his sister Kelly.  Of course I picked out a pink color.  I was itching to go with a neon pink color, but stuck with a "cherry pink" color.  Next time, I think it's going to be neon pink for me.  :)  It will be July after all.   While enjoying my couch time, I saw a commercial that Taco Bell had brought back the Beefy Crunch Burrito......that's a big deal in our household.  Andy is OBSESSED with this burrito.  So for dinner, we went to Taco Bell.  I'll even admit that I love the burrito too!!  Haha!!  I did document that for you all.  :)  In fact, while typing this out, it sounds so good right now....LOL!  After dinner we headed over to my mom's and went out to get some ice cream from Dairy Queen.  (Man, I am a typing advertisement over here today!  You're welcome Taco Bell and Dairy Queen.)  I saw a commercial for a S'Mores Blizzard.  YUM!!!  I got the really small blizzard and it was pretty good but really sweet.  So if you are not a fan of super sweet things, I don't think this is your cup of ice cream.

Taco Bell Beefy Crunch Burrito!!!

So that concludes my weekend.  I can't believe it is Tuesday already.  Before I know it, it will be the weekend all over again and you know what, I am A-OK with that!  :)

5 for Five #20

Monday morning is here and so is the month of June!

Don't you hate it when you get lots of sleep over the weekend and then your sleep Sunday night into Monday morning is horrible and you have just screwed up your "built in extra sleep" time you built up over the weekend is now gone!?!!  That was me once again last night.  I woke up at 2:30am and my brain would not shut off.  Stupid brain.

Let's get back to setting goals with:

Thanks to Jenn and Jessica for this fabulous link up as always!!

Since I haven't linked up with Jenn and Jess in almost a month, I have no goals to see if I have achieved them or not, so we will start fresh with all new goals this week.

  1. Work out 3 times this week (Race for the Cure 5k is in 12 days and I did not work out once last week, its crunch time!!)
  2. Walk on lunch at least 2 times this week (I would say more, but the rain is non stop these days in Saint Louis)
  3. Get more green foods in my diet.  The past 3 days I have been HORRIBLE with no green.  Very bad!!
  4. Start typing instructions on how to run payroll at my work.  This needs to be started ASAP!!
  5. Keep sewing on my cross stitch.

I cannot believe that the month of June is already here and I am thrilled to see it.  Now if only the weather would start to cooperate and act like summer is just around the corner!!  Today's high: 70 degrees.  Huh??  That's crazy talk!

Sunday Social #14

Welcome to another weekend edition of Sunday Social!
Sorry I have been absent from this linkup the past couple of weeks.  The month of May has been a busy one and I just ran out of time every weekend!!

Sunday Social

I'm linking up with Ashley and Neely for this weeks Sunday Social!

1. What is your favorite social media outlet?
I love facebook and now my blogger.  Facebook is nice to keep up to date with relatives and friends.  I love blogger because I get to keep up with my favorite blogs all of the time now.  I just discovered Bloglovin' on my iPhone 5 several weeks ago and it is so nice to use and keep up to date with those blogs!  I do like to keep up with instagram also.  It's neat to see my favorite bloggers who post daily photos!

2. Do you subscribe to any daily new reads? If so, which ones?
Nothing new lately, the month of May has been a busy one and I haven't had a lot of time to start new blogs right now.

3. What is your favorite magazine to have by the pool?
My favorite magazine is People magazine.  My mom subscribes to it and will save me issues to read while over at her house.  With this day and age and able to read all news on the internet, I dont keep up with magazine's as much as I use too.

4. What is your favorite summertime song?
I don't have a certain favorite summertime song, but every summer there seems to be that official summer song, we shall see what this year's will be.  There are several songs right now that I am loving, but I am sure I will start to get annoyed with them since radio likes to overplay songs over and over again.

5. What is the best summer concert you've been to?
Oh, no question about it!  *NSync!!  I LOVED seeing them and so wish they would get back together.  I thought about seeing Justin Timberlake in concert but I purchsed one of his concert DVD's several years back and was so thrilled to watch it.  I watch it and my thrilled(ness) went away, FAST!  It was not good at all.  I hate it when artists take their popular songs and "change" them.  Soooooo annoying.  Just sing the dang song dude!

High Five for Friday #8

  1. Me and my brother Jack at his graduation party Monday!  My mom and I made his graduation cake.  She baked a lemon cake (2 - 9" round pans).  I made the lemon cream cheese whipped icing.  It came out pretty good.
  2. How cute is this photo of Jack and Claire!  Super adorable if you ask me.  :)
  3. Smokey and Keeley are sitting down right next to each other!  See, they really do love each other!  They are buddies.
  4. Me, my sister Jena and my Mom at Jack's high school graduation ceremony.  We were waiting for the ceremony to start.
  5. "If I fits, I sits"  Yep, that's what my cat thinks.  He decided to make himself comfy on the second row in our bookshelf.  What a goof!!
