Doctor's office rant

This post has turned out to be COMPLETELY different from what I thought it would be.  First, I was going to talk about the weather.  Then it turned into a bunch of randoms.  Now, it's a rant on doctor's offices.  Whatever works I guess! ;)

My first doctor's office.  First, I LOVE my doctor!  He has been nothing but great when it came to my first pregnancy, my miscarriage, and this pregnancy.  However, his back office staff has just totally turned me off on the office.  I know that my doctor is about ready to retire, so I knew that I was going to look for a new doctor anyways.  My first appointment where I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks, I was never told to also make an appointment with the doctor (that's 2 separate appointments).  Is anyone else's doctors office like this?  I swear when I watch "Teen Mom" or whatever baby show it is, that there is an ultrasound machine in the room with them.  Ok off track.  So there was mess up number one.

My second appointment at 8 weeks was another ultrasound and separate doctors appointment. It went great except my doctor isn't use to seeing the patient at 8 weeks.  Normally a nurse-practitioner does that appointment so that they can go over the do's, don't, and tests throughout the entire pregnancy.  So my appointment with my doctor was pretty much pointless.  He ordered blood tests with his head nurse who was quick to judge me that I was seeing him at 8 weeks and not the nurse practitioner.  The head nurse even asked me what blood tests I had already had. Seriously, how would I know exactly that blood tests I have had, and don't you have a chart of what has already been done, AND aren't all the charts electronically now?!?!!

12 week appointment we were told to meet with the nurse practitioner, fine whatever, I don't care. Appointment time is 3:40 pm.  Crabby head nurse is once again, crabby and makes you feel so uncomfortable.  We sit in the exam room from 4 pm to 4:25 pm.....every minute that ticked away, the crabbier that we got.  Nurse practitioner came in and asked, "So why are we here today?"  GAH!!!  Chart, LOOK A IT!!!!!!!!  She is OK through the exam part and then takes us to her office.  She then rattles off AS FAST AS POSSIBLE all medical history with the both of us and explains testing, etc.  Thank god I come from a family full of medical field jobs because whew, that was a lot to take in.  She then takes me back to get my blood drawn from the technician and the technician is ticked that its 4:45 pm and she has to take my blood. It then becomes a mad house as the doctor, nurse and technician are trying to get my paperwork and blood all together.  I was wondering if it was all going to get messed up or not. Finally at 5 pm we are about to walk out and they stop us to talk to the billing person.....the thoughts in my head were &!$@%!?!@  5:15 pm we were FINALLY able to leave.  We get a phone call about our test results 2 weeks later from the nurse practitioner and then she says, oh wait, are these your results or not? The names on these papers are so small and hard to read.  Then yells out to crabby head nurse to help her......DUN!  I am done with that office.

I did manage to call 2 different doctor's offices yesterday.  The first one, not so good.  It came highly recommended, but I was not thrilled with the receptionist.  She wasn't thrilled to answer my questions (just basic ones) and when I asked if we could schedule an appointment, she put me on hold for over 5 minutes.  She then came back and asked when I needed to come in next. I said, around 16 weeks, which is in 2 weeks, but we could push it back a little bit later.  She said he was coming back from vacation that last week of March and would be really busy but had an appointment at 3:30 on the 27th.  I said, when you mean really busy, would he still be at my 3:30 appointment? She said, oh yeah, but he is double booked so it would be a really quick appointment.  Right there, I knew it was not a good fit for me.  I asked if I could think about the dates and times she gave me and if I could call back.  I hung up and literally had tears in my eyes.  All I want is a doctors office that won't just treat me like "ooooh more money, but give bad service".  I LOVED my doctor, but HATED his back office staff.

I decided to call another office that was recommended to me by a co-worker of my mom's (my mom work's at a hospital).  I called the office and the person answering the phone was SO nice!  She took the time to answer my questions, I never felt rushed on the phone with her, and just had a good feeling about the office.  I stopped by there to see the office and sign the paperwork to have my file transferred over.  So far, I am happy.  First doctors appointment there will be on April 2nd.

I am not looking for a ton of attention from the doctor at all.  I just want a nice office staff, who doesn't treat me like I am a burden, a doctor who is knowledgeable about my chart and doesn't come in asking, "So why are we here today", and a doctor's office where I don't have to see all 8 doctors in case my doctor isn't on call that night....  I don't mind see a different doctor in a practice just in case when I do go into labor and he isn't available, but I dont want to see 8 doctors and asked every time, "So why are we here today".  It's pretty obvious you didn't even look at my chart to notice that I am pregnant!

OK I am ending my rant.  Here's hoping this new doctor's office is better!!

First Dress of the Year!

Let's bullet point the weekend, shall we?

  • Friday, you are absolutely GORGEOUS outside!  Taking Keeley on a walk and BBQing hamburgers really put me in the mood for spring and summer!
  • Orange sherbet push ups, you are SOOOO DELICIOUS!!  I would like to thank Mrs. K over at Mrs. K and Captain J for the preggo craving.  :)   I even found another flavor of these called "Frogs Spit", which sounds disgusting, however; the flavor is lemon/lime sherbet, and I think I might have to get those next time.
  • Saturday, you were grey, cloudy and cold.  At least it didn't snow or rain!  But the cold is still not any fun.
  • Met up for lunch with an old friend from my Micro Center days!  I haven't seen her in a year and a half!  It was great to catch up with her and find out that we live like 5 minutes apart from each other!!
  • Went to Kohl's to pick up the husband some more khaki's.  Purchased khaki's along with 2 new toys for the baby.  Also picked up $20 in Kohl's cash which will be used towards more baby stuff!
  • Had pizza from Jet's pizza, which didn't agree with my stomach at all.  Watched a movie with the in-laws which ended up being a pretty good movie.  2 Guns was the movie, with Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington.
  • Sunday was a bit warmer and SUNNY!!  I only needed a light jacket!
  • Went to Costco with my mom and ended up getting really stressed out with the amount of people there.  We even went when they first opened!  People are rude and do not know how to say, "Excuse Me" or a simple "Please" or "Thank You".
  • Spent the evening with Andy by going to dinner to Steak n Shake ( we never have a good experience there....something always goes wrong).   We also got the car washed (which means it will totally snow in a couple days, you're welcome).
  • Lot's of cuddles came from Keeley and Smokey this weekend also.  Like you expected anything different.

  • Woke up this morning to beautiful weather and decided to wear my first dress of the year! Today's high temperature, 70 degrees!!!
  • Pregnancy update:  every time I think or say, "my morning sickness is gone", it comes back....So I need to STOP thinking that!  Most thoughts of food make me sick to my stomach and nothing ever sounds good.  I had my heart set on a cheese danish that I took from my moms house, ate it and it wasn't the best tasting.  :(   Also, my nose won't stop running.  I thought the bloat went away, but it's back today. My hormones are all out of whack.  I cried like a baby this morning because I felt guilty that I might have to go out to lunch once again today.  In our building the water in being turned off and I don't think it's sanitary at all.
  • Today I am going to enjoy this beautiful weather!  Sunroof open and listening to some Justin Timberlake on the iPod, cause I'm cool like that.

High Five for the First Friday of March!

A whole week of me blogging!  Woohooooo!  I am so glad to be back in action and getting our awesome news out there.  I know I follow many different kinds of blogs out there, but my favorite blogs are the one's about families and babies.  I am so excited to be able to join the Mommy club and finally get to experience this amazing journey that we are on.

Let's give this Friday one BIG HIGH FIVE!!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.png

{ONE}

Sunday and into Monday Missouri experienced once again another ice and snow storm.  When I got ready to go home last Friday, I made sure to have some work with me so that I could work from home Monday if need be.  I did end up staying home half the day and then went in the last half of the day.  Smokey and Keeley decided that they needed to cuddle with me while I work. How can you say no to these two?

{TWO}

Wednesday after work Andy and I decided to go get some Qdoba for dinner and to go to the pet store.  We ended up getting both the dog and cat some new toys.  The fish even got some new foliage for their tank.  What lucky animals we have!  Just imagine what will happen once the baby is here.  LOL

{THREE}

Our sweet neighbors next door brought over these gummy vitamins and this cute card for us when they found out that we were pregnant.  She said that those gummy vites were the only thing she could handle during morning sickness.  The card is just too cute and it's currently hanging on my fridge right now.

{FOUR}

I still love looking at this sonagram photo!  It was taken at around 8 weeks so the baby is a lot bigger now!  Every now and again I will listen to the heartbeat that Andy recorded for me too.  :)

{FIVE}

My drive in this morning consisted of a smoothie and the sun in my eyes.  The smoothie is mixed berries, some yogurt, a handful of spinach, some white chocolate protein powder and milk.  It's a good way for me to get in some calcium, vegetables and protein.  The sun in my eyes is annoying.  Looking forward to daylight savings time on Sunday so that when I drive in on Monday morning next week, the sun will be nice and high and people will be able to drive again!!!

Week 13 - Bump Date!

  How far along: 13 Weeks

Baby Size: As long as a pea pod or the size of a peach

Weight gain: -4 pounds

Maternity clothes: I am thiiiiiiiiiis close to needing to move over to maternity pants, but am really just trying to hold out as long as possibly.  The rubber band trick on the pants is the best thing EVER!

Stretch marks: None so far.  I did order some belly balm from the Honest company (OK really I ordered it through zulily.com who had a good deal on it.  2 jars for $17.99!!  This stuff is normally $15.99 a jar) and I am waiting for that to ship out.  It says it will be shipped out by 3/7.

Sleep: Nothing consistent as far as sleep, some nights good, other nights not so good.  I really try to go to bed early on the weeknights.  If I fall asleep anytime later than 9 pm, it throws my sleep off until the weekend when I can catch up again.

Gender: Unknown at this time, but we are going to find out!

Movement: None, just because it's too early still

Best moment this week: Finally announcing that we are pregnant to the entire world.  I was sooooo nervous to do so, but once I did, I felt better.  I have a personal facebook account and was amazed at how many people were so excited for us.  :)

Looking forward to: warmer weather hopefully coming soon?  Wishful thinking going on right now?  I am SO sick of my weather clothes AND they are starting to not fit so well anymore.  I know I am too early for maternity tops, but these cardigans are not fitting that great.

Food cravings: still Mexican food, we had some on Saturday (Chevy's) and it was the most I had eaten in months!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Raw hamburger meat, I made Andy brown the meat the other week because it made me sick to look at and touch.  Chicken from Qdoba, we went there for dinner the other night and I ate a 1/4 of the quesadilla, took one look at the chicken of my other 1/4 of quesadilla and I just couldn't eat it anymore.  String cheese just didn't work that well for me either the other day.

Labor Signs: Nothing and that's a GOOD thing!

What I miss: Diet Coke...I took a sip of my mom's the other day and it tasted like heaven!  LOL!  For now if I drink soda, it's either Ginger Ale, Root Beer, or Sprite.  So weird to drink calories!

Symptoms: exhaustion, queasiness to certain foods

Nursery: once we find out the gender, we will be all over the nursery!  We moved the guest bed to the new room (smaller) and now the nursery is empty with various things left over in it.  We are getting a crib from my brother since his kids have out grown it.  Once it gets warmer Andy is going to sand down the teeth marks and refinish it a bit.

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: Depends on the day.  The other day I was super crabby for no reason.  When I'm crabby, I try to just stay quiet because I don't want to say something that I will regret (at least at work that's what I do, my husband would say something different for at home...haha!)

Workouts: HA! You are funny there!  No seriously, I would really like to get back into working out, or at least nightly walks around the neighborhood with the doggy.  COME ON SPRING!!

Weeks 5 - 12

I have some catching up to do on the blog since I waited so long to announce.  So here it goes, I apologize in advance that this posting is long!

Week 5 Bump Update
How Far Along: Week 5 (Saturday, January 4th)
Size of Baby: According to BabyCenter, baby is the size of a sesame seed
Total Weight Gain/Loss: unknown, I kind of just don't want to weigh myself right now
Maternity Clothes: Saturday I ran out of clean jeans so I wore a pair of maternity jeans just because I needed some clean clothes to wear.....haha!  But otherwise none since I am not far along at all.
Gender: unknown
Movement: none
Food Cravings: anything warm since it's so cold out!
What I Miss: sleeping in!  Sounds funny but I can't sleep in anymore on the weekends.
Sleep: Out by 9 pm (grandma time) and am in and out of sleep from 4 am to  5am on weeknights. Weekends I can sleep until 7 am and then I am done with sleep.  No more sleeping in till 9 or 10 am anymore.
Symptoms: very moody and exhausted at all times of the day!  I have major road rage, but it could also be due to stupid people driving in the snow.  Also the woman at Quest Diagnostics REALLY made me mad on Wednesday the 8th.  That story will be left for another day.
Best Moment This Week: Having the doctor finally call me Tuesday (blood draw was Friday) and give me my HCG and Progesterone levels.  127 and 27.  He said they look great so far! Second blood draw was on Wednesday, 8th and number were given on the 9th.  HCG and Progesterone: 1980 and 33.9!!  Doubling every 30 hours!
What I Am Looking Forward To: The Ultrasound appointment on Wednesday the 15th!

Week 6 Bump Update
How Far AlongWeek 6 (Saturday, January 11th)
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenter, baby is the size of a lentil
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I weighed myself so now I have a "starting weight" to go from.  I will say that after my miscarriage last year, I put on a good 5 pounds and never lost them, so I am starting higher than I'd like to be at, but its OK. I can handle it.  I plan on trying to get in workouts but not making myself crazy from needing to workout at all times.
Maternity Clothes: none
Gender: still too early
Movement: none
Food Cravings:  nothing.  Nothing tastes good.  :(
What I Miss: Food tasting good
Sleep: Good until I have to go to the bathroom and then my brain wont shut off.
Symptoms: my bladder is hyper active now getting me up anywhere from 1-3 times a night now
Best Moment This Week: still having symptoms, so that's a win in my book.
What I Am Looking Forward To: another ultrasound to be scheduled for next week, however; due to work scheduling conflicts, we move it to the following Wednesday. It is scheduled for Wednesday the 29th. I have no good news from the ultrasound on Wednesday the 15th.  All they could see was a yolk sak and asked me to come in the following week for another ultrasound and an appointment with the doctor.  This appointment was just the ultrasound. Honestly, I think the doctors office messed up because I had only an ultrasound scheduled on Wednesday and the doctor was shocked that I was not meeting with him.  I'm not very happy at this moment right now, but am trying to remain positive and optimistic.

Week 6 (PART 2) Bump Update
How Far AlongWeek 6 (Wednesday, January 15th)
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenter, baby is the size of a lentil
Reason why you see Part 2 in Week 6:  By the ultrasound sizing looks like I didn't ovulate at the normal time period of "14" days which I knew because I was temping.  So when I charted, I noticed that I ovulated on the 19th day which puts my "due date" 5 days later.  If that makes sense....

Week 7 Bump Update
How Far AlongWeek 7 (Wednesday, January 22nd)
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenter, baby is the size of a blueberry
Total Weight Gain/Loss: -2 pounds (I have an appetite, but cannot eat as much.  I get full really quickly now)
Maternity Clothes: none (thiiiiiiiiis close to maternity pants for work because of bloat, but opted not too)
Gender: unknown
Movement: none
Food Cravings:  none, food still doesn't taste good.
What I Miss: nothing
Sleep: I finally learned to sleep walk to use the potty in the middle of the night and go right back to sleep....LOL!  It's a sleep saver, that's for sure.  :)
Symptoms: a little bit of morning sickness, sore, TIRED
Best Moment This Week: 3 day weekend!  Monday we were off due to MLK day so an extra day of relaxation, sleep, and fun.  :)
What I Am Looking Forward To: 2nd Ultrasound on the 29th.  I should be 8 weeks that day and hoping to see a heartbeat and a healthy baby!!

Week 8 Bump Update

How Far AlongWeek 8 (Thursday, January 30th)
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenter, baby is the size of a kidney bean
Total Weight Gain/Loss: 0
Maternity Clothes: none, but using the clever hair tie trick on my work pants to give me a little bit more room  :)
Gender: I'm thinking girl, of course Andy says boy.
Movement: none
Food Cravings: no real cravings yet
What I Miss
Sleep: OK until I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and sometimes I can't fall back asleep.
Symptoms: exhaustion and morning sickness
Best Moment This Week: Seeing the baby on the ultrasound on Wednesday the 29th!  The ultrasound technician saw the heart beating right away (154 BPM), we saw where the brain was developing, and the baby looked great!!  It was the best news to hear after waiting 2 long weeks to see the baby.
What I Am Looking Forward To: 12 week Dr appointment to hear the heartbeat and ease my mind just a little bit

Week 9 Bump Update
How Far AlongWeek 9 (Thursday, February 6th)
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenter, baby is the size of a grape
Total Weight Gain/Loss: -2 pounds
Maternity Clothes: none
Gender: unknown
Movement: none
Food Cravings: puffy cheetos sounded great and tasted even better
What I Miss: not being sick, this morning sickness really likes to kick you in the rear
Sleep: great one night and then really sucky the next, Sunday night I was up from 2 am-3:30 am just thinking and tossing and turning....so frustrating
Symptoms: morning sickness and exhausted
Best Moment This Week: is it bad to say nothing?  I am just happy that things are still progressing well and I cant wait till February 26th for my 12 week appointment to hear the heartbeat!
What I Am Looking Forward To: no longer being sick and hearing the baby's heartbeat

Week 10 Bump Update
How Far AlongWeek 10 (Thursday, February 13th)
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenterbaby is the size of a kumquat
Total Weight Gain/Loss: -4 pounds (I'm just not able to eat a lot.  I do get hungry, but can only eat a little bit before I get full)
Maternity Clothes: None, just the rubber band trick with my work pants (which works like a charm I might add, thank you Ali for telling me about it)
Gender: I say girl, Andy says boy
Movement: none
Food Cravings: Tuna Fish Salad Sandwiches (Penn Station has the best and I filled my craving on Thursday evening) (yes, I am trying to not eat a lot of tuna fish either, just had a hankering and needed to fill that craving, haha)
What I Miss: feeling normal and not sick all of the time.  Week 10 started on Thursday and BAM morning sickness hit me like a mack truck down a highway.
Sleep: getting better.  I am getting use to going to the bathroom and going right back to sleep, rather than thinking too much.  I did pick up a body pillow from Target for myself since I know I won't be able to sleep on my stomach much longer, and it was too fluffy.  So I am using an older body pillow right now that is a bit flatter and doesn't make my leg feel like its levitating above the mattress.  Smokey is loving the body pillow too.  He wedges himself in-between myself and pillow and is in HEAVEN!!
Symptoms: morning sickness with vengeance, but that's ok because I then know that things are still going good with the baby.  Grow baby grow!
Best Moment This Week: Valentine's Date with my Andy to Dewey's Pizza!!  Also, with my last pregnancy that ended in a miscarriage, I got to day 78 of being pregnant and then received the devastating news that I had lost the baby.  I am happy to report that day 78 of this pregnancy will fall on February 15th, this upcoming Saturday, and I am not experiencing any bleeding or spotting!
What I Am Looking Forward To: Week 13 when I am in the second trimester! Or is week 14?  I don't know.

Week 11 Bump Update

How Far AlongWeek 11 (Thursday, February 20th )
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenterbaby is the size of a green olive
Total Weight Gain/Loss: -2.5 pounds (gained 1.5 pounds in the last week)
Maternity Clothes: none except for the rubber band trick on the work pants.
Gender: I say girl, Andy says boy
Movement: none, still too early
Food Cravings: nothing really.  I am starting to slowly feel a bit better lately too.  Here's hoping the morning sickness is almost over.
What I Miss: Sleep!  My nights are sometimes good with sleep, and other times just AWFUL!!  I also get up every night at 3:30 AM to use the bathroom.  No joke.
Sleep: please read above
Symptoms: sleep is rough this week
Best Moment This Week
What I Am Looking Forward Tothe doctor's appointment (12 week checkup) on Wednesday 2/26!!  I cannot wait!

Week 12 Bump Update

How Far AlongWeek 12 (Thursday, February 27th )
Size of BabyAccording to BabyCenterbaby is the size of a lime
Total Weight Gain/Loss: -4 pounds
Maternity Clothes: still the rubber band trick on the work pants
Gender: I say girl, Andy says boy.
Movement: none, too early
Food Cravings: puffy cheetos and tuna fish sandwiches, if I could eat that for lunch everyday, I'd be a happy lady!!  But, I can't since I have to limit my tuna intake, so just a can a week is what I am limited too.
What I Miss: not feeling sick.  After my doctor appointment on 2/26, they drew 4 vials of blood and I was hungry.  I then started to get hungry and we were stuck in traffic on our way home. That meant a crabby wife who was super sick to her stomach last night.  We picked up Jack in the Box for dinner and I couldn't eat more than 3 bites of my chicken sandwich.
Sleep: hit and miss.  I am usually getting up one time a night to use the restroom and most times than not, I end up tossing and turning for 2 hours till I fall asleep or when my alarm goes off.
Symptoms: morning sickness, not sleeping as well, fatigue is getting better but not up to par yet, and starting to show a bit
Best Moment This Week: hearing the baby's heartbeat!  I had Andy record it so that I could listen to the recording whenever I want.  It's such a sweet sound to hear.  Also, it was a sense of relief to hear that heartbeat considering with the first pregnancy at 12 weeks is when they couldn't find a heartbeat.
What I Am Looking Forward Toannouncing the pregnancy to everyone!  We told family yesterday and are waiting till next week (Monday 3/3) to announce to the world!

Baby K

When we found out: January 2nd, 2014

I knew I was pregnant because I am pretty well in tune with my cycles.  Having pretty normal cycles helped and so did temping.  Temping is where you take your temperature the same time every morning to see if you are ovulating.  I've become an expert temper the last year and to be honest, I was getting really frustrated late December and early January with temping.  Once you ovulate, your temperature remains high the entire time if you are pregnant or it drops once your period comes.  It's very helpful, but also can be very frustrating.  I was so frustrated, that I stopped temping for almost a week before I found out I was pregnant because I kept over analyzing those temperatures.

We were of course ecstatic! The fear and worries set in right away though because of my thought of another miscarriage.  The last miscarriage absolutely devastated me and to be pregnant again was a blessing.  I gave up caffeine pretty much right away.  I had been swaying away from caffeine those last couple of weeks around Christmas and once I got that positive, I was done with it.  I know you can have up to 200 milligrams of caffeine a day, but I'd rather not take the chance.

We called the doctor that day so that we could get going on blood draws.  My doctor was very pro-active in getting these done and it helped ease my mind once I got my numbers.  My first blood draw was on Friday the 3rd and we would have the results on Monday the 6th.  Well a HUGE snow storm came through and pretty much shut down all of St Louis, so I had to wait an extra day for my numbers.  First numbers came back good, 127 and 27 (HCG an Progesterone).

My second draw was on Wednesday the 8th and it was an absolute HORRIBLE experience at the clinic, with me bawling in the waiting room.  A story for another day. The numbers came back on Thursday the 9th at doubling a very good rate, 1980 and 33.9 (HCG and Progesterone).   Doctor then decided to schedule for an ultrasound on Wednesday the 15th to see how things were progressing.  We went in and all they saw was a yolk sak and nothing else.  We were already super nervous as it was going in for an ultrasound and to just see a yolk sak shook me up pretty good.  They suggested that I come a week later to see if things were progressing.  Andy had to work out of office several days that next week, so we decided on a two week wait for another ultrasound.  14 long days go by and we finally have our appointment on the 29th of January.  The ultrasound tech was amazing and even remembered us from 2 weeks ago.  At the start of the scan she right away saw the heart beating without having to search.  10 minutes later we had photos of our baby.  This time the ultrasound photos were fantastic!!  You could even see where the brain was starting to grow. The heartbeat was 154 beats per minute, which is great too!

We then met with the doctor who was pleased and we set my expected due date of September 11th, 2014.  I was due back in another 4 weeks for my 12 week appointment, February 26th.

At the 12 week appointment, I was so scared to go too.  I went and picked Andy up at work (we carpooled that morning) and was sick to my stomach.  All I wanted was to hear good news.  Our appointment was at 3:40 pm (really it's at 4 pm, they schedule the appointments early because so many people are always late).  We sat in our exam room for 25 more minutes (4:25pm is when she saw us) until the doctor FINALLY came in (we were really annoyed).  The doctor came in and she asked why we were there.  I knew from that moment on, that this appointment was not going to go well.  I told the doctor why I was there (apparently looking at a chart is a hard task to do) and I wasn't going anywhere without hearing the heartbeat and that's the first thing she did.  It took a minute to find it, but once she did, it was an amazing sound to hear.  I even had Andy record it for me! The doctor then took us back to her office to explain the do's and don'ts of pregnancy and what tests I will go through over the next 28 weeks if I choose too. They had to re-draw my blood for a thyroid test (not surprised, family history of thyroids stop working once you get older).  We went back to the lab and our tech was not happy to have to draw my blood (it's 4:45 pm now).  The tech, doctor and crabby nurse were scrambling to get my blood out the door because the guy who picks up the blood was waiting on them for my blood.  We then thought we were scott free to leave and then they stopped us once more to discuss billing....UGH!!!  I still don't really understand the whole billing thing in our office either. We left around 5:15 pm, my head pounding and my stomach growling.  We were not happy with being there so long and we knew we were about to sit in traffic.

Hearing that heartbeat was definitely the best moment of that day, however; I slept AWFUL that night because I was that upset with the doctor's office.  I understood if they had an emergency, but they didn't, they just took their time, never apologized and then made me feel like I was being such an inconvenience to them.  I have decided to switch doctor's offices and possibly hospitals all together.  My doctor is great, I LOVE him and he has been nothing but wonderful to me, however; his staff in the back, NOT SO MUCH!  Now comes the awful task of finding a new doctor.....so not fun!

BIG NEWS!!!!

I've been hording a secret for quite sometime and it's finally time for me to reveal what's been going on lately:

This is why I have been so quiet over the last 2 months!  I wanted to be quiet about this until we had our 12 week appointment, which was on Wednesday, 2/27.  I am happy to report that everything is great and hearing that heartbeat was such an amazing experience!  Tomorrow, I will share more about Baby K for you all!  :)
