Getting to Know Me - Christmas Edition

Happy Monday!!

Man, is it a cold one here in Missouri, wind chill was 19 degrees this morning!

I thought I would post a fun Christmas Quiz to have you all get to know me a little bit better!

Which do you like better: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Christmas Day, when working in retail and actually this year at my big girl job, I have to work on Christmas Eve, which I think is a total downer.  I would love to be home all day with Andy and the fur-babies.

Favorite Christmas song?
I have so many!!  The favorites would be:  "Merry Christmas Darling" by the Carpenters, "All I Want For Christmas Is You"  by Mariah Carey, " "Mele Kalikimaka" (Hawaiian Christmas) by Don Ho and "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" by *N'Sync.

Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?
We have a "Wade" tradition recipe that all of us cousins LOVE!  I remember these things as far as I can remember!

Christmas Holly Treats

44 lg. marshmallows
1 stick of butter
1 1/2 tsp. green food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. corn flakes

Melt marshmallows and butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add food coloring and vanilla. Fold in corn flakes and mix together. Use a spoon to drop your holly on a greased cookie sheet. Add a few red hot candies to each holly leaf.

Most memorable Holiday moment?
Watching my younger siblings grow up and seeing the excitement in their eyes on Christmas morning when I got older.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Andy and I occasionally will open presents on Christmas Eve that we bought for each other. I know this year we will, it just depends every year.  Our first Christmas together we did, our second we did not (he proposed), third Christmas we did not, fourth Christmas (this year) we will.

What do you do the day after Christmas?
Normally I have to work, as I have to this year.  Booooo.

Favorite Christmas Movie?
Elf with Will Ferral.  Love that movie!!

The best lines from that movie are:

"The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear."

"We elves try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup."

"Gimbel's Manager: Why are you smiling like that?
Buddy: I just like to smile, smiling's my favorite "

Is there a certain food you have to have around Christmas time that comes out?
Christmas Tree Cakes made by Little Debbies  (YUMMO!!)

Christmas lights, White or Colored?
Colored lights that "Twinkle"!!  If I use white lights, its the bright white color, not the warm white color.

Whats your favorite ornament on your Christmas Tree?
My First Christmas Ornament from 1984!  Funny thing, my husband and I were both born in 1984 and we both have the same ornament, except mine is the "Girl" and his is the "Boy" {DUH}.

What's your weirdest Christmas tradition that you do each year?
Andy and I spend Christmas Eve together.  We go to IHop for our "breakfast" dinner and open presents after dinner at home.  I normally don't like breakfast out to eat, but for Christmas Eve, its a tradition!

Have you ever spent a Christmas away from "home"? What did you/would you do instead?
No, I am always home for Christmas and wouldn't change it for the world!  I love being with family!

Real Tree or Fake?
Fake, its the tree my parents had when I was a kid.  Andy's parents got a real tree 2 Christmas' ago, and I wasn't a fan of all the pine needles all over the floor.  Sitting on a needle=not fun at all!!

Describe Christmas morning at your house when you were a child.
On Christmas morning my siblings and I would wake up and have to wait in our rooms for our parents to wake up and get the living room ready.  We had the tradition of lighting a fire in the fireplace, playing Christmas music, and our Dad would have the video camera in hand catching our every moment and faces when we saw the tree filled with presents.

When do you put up your Christmas decorations?
If I was allowed too, they would go up the weekend before Thanksgiving, but this year they went up the week after Thanksgiving.

Did you believe in Santa as a child? Are you (or do you plan on) using Santa with your own children?
My mom told us the story of Santa Clause, but we never believed in Santa.  I am glad I didn't believe in him because the let down to know there is no real Santa would be so sad!  I plan on doing the same thing to my kids as my mom did for us.  I didn't have a bad childhood because of Santa, it's just something I knew before many other kids and I never gave it away for those to believed.

How will you spend Christmas day this year?
Christmas morning will be spent at Andy's parents house and Christmas afternoon and evening will be over at my parents house!  I'm so excited! I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!
